The company
- What is Sloane Labs?
- Sloane Labs is a performance coaching technology company. We build Sloane, a coach that learns from wearable and work signals and helps people manage their capacity through the working day.
- Why was Sloane Labs founded?
- Sloane Labs began after its founder experienced a severe period of burnout that lasted for years. The company was built around a simple question: could the warning signs have been understood earlier, while there was still time to respond?
- Where can I find Sloane Labs?
- Our site is sloanelab.com. You can start a conversation with Sloane there, or apply to the private design cohort at sloanelab.com/how-we-begin.
Agentic AI
- What does agentic AI mean at Sloane Labs?
- Agentic means Sloane can notice a meaningful change and suggest a useful next step without waiting to be asked. It might propose a protected focus block, a change to a meeting or a period of recovery. You approve anything that touches your calendar or messages.
- How is an agentic coach different from a dashboard?
- A dashboard waits for you to open it and hands you numbers to interpret. Sloane speaks first, in plain language, and only when something has genuinely changed. You talk to it by voice or text. There is nothing to stare at.
- How does Sloane decide when to intervene?
- Two independent signal sets have to agree. Your physiology has to have shifted against your own baseline, and your working pattern has to have shifted too. Only then does the coaching model reason about it and propose something, with a confidence level attached.
- Does Sloane act without asking?
- No. Sloane proposes, you approve, it drafts, you confirm, and only then does anything leave. Two explicit confirmations before any action reaches another person.
- Can Sloane predict performance decline in advance?
- It looks ahead by comparing sleep, heart-rate variability, recovery and strain with meeting density, fragmented time and after-hours work. The result is a forecast, not a diagnosis, and Sloane explains the signals behind it.
How it works
- What are the three tiers of the architecture?
- Tier one is body: wearable signals normalised and scored against your own rolling baseline. Tier two is work: metadata only from calendars, Slack and Teams, never content. Tier three is coach: a language model that reasons over both, gated so it only speaks when the first two agree.
- Which wearables does Sloane connect to?
- We connect with most well-known wearable devices, including Apple Watch, WHOOP, Oura, Garmin and Fitbit, with many more coming.
- Which work tools does Sloane connect to?
- Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook calendar, Slack and Microsoft Teams. We read meeting shape and message rhythm, never what anyone wrote.
- How long does deployment take?
- The timing depends on the integrations and security review involved. There is no new hardware to distribute. IT will usually review single sign-on and permissions for the tools being connected.
Privacy
- Can my manager see my biometrics?
- No. Leaders only ever see aggregated, anonymised cohort views. Individual physiology stays between the person and their coach.
- Does Sloane read my messages?
- No. We take metadata only: how many, when, how quickly, how fragmented. Content is never stored. Text you type to Sloane is parsed and then discarded.
- Is Sloane employee surveillance?
- It is the opposite by design. People opt in per device, can disconnect at any moment, and nothing about an individual is reported upward. If it were a surveillance tool, nobody would tell it the truth, and it would be useless.
- Where is data held?
- Encrypted in transit and at rest, hosted in the EU, built to GDPR and SOC 2 alignment.
Working with us
- How do we begin working with Sloane Labs?
- We work with a private design cohort of a small number of organisations. Apply at sloanelab.com/how-we-begin, and we will arrange a short conversation to see if there is a fit.
- How is an engagement scoped?
- We agree the first group, the tools to connect, the safeguards required and what both sides want to learn. The scope follows from that conversation.
- Who is Sloane for?
- People whose performance is their job. Our lead vertical is F1. We also work across SaaS and technology, financial services, professional services, healthcare, research and life sciences, government and defence, and advanced technology.
